1. Your company?  CertaScan provides a 21st century solution to identifying infants in hospitals using a modern scanning technology and patent pending system to scan the feet of newborn babies and capture a security photo within two hours of birth.
2. Why Stamford?
CertaScan 2Stamford provides an excellent platform for new and growing companies by offering easy access to transportation and shipping, skilled staffing, capital, commercial manufacturing space, and a focused innovation climate.

We have benefited from city programs including the Stamford Senior Internship Experience and Mayor’s Youth Employment Program, InnovateStamford and the 1 Million Cups series hosted at the Ferguson Library in building awareness about our company as well as growing our network of potential partners.

All of these factors will allow us to scale up from a our current size to enterprise level, and are a vital consideration in selecting the best base of operations.

3. Tell us about your innovation.
Our product consists of a proprietary hardware and software digital infant security solution, which is unique in the marketplace. It was developed in conjunction with the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children, as well as feedback and guidance from nursing team leadership. Footprints from birth are a recognized and viable way to uniquely identify each baby. Use of these footprints for forensic identification can be utilized throughout the life of the child.

Since we started in 2014, we have taken our initial product to a second generation design, and are constantly looking to enhance and improve the system components and software functionality. In addition, we have an active research and development team collaborating to bring new products to market, and are actively engaged with subject matter industry experts in the evolving world of biometrics.

4. If someone runs into you in Stamford, how should they start a conversation? Any way at all. I love meeting new people and hearing their story or perspective. In my travels, I find people throughout the world have valuable insights and very similar hopes and fears.

One thing that is true everywhere is that people care about their children, their safety and security. I feel really good about having built a solution that addresses this.

I always appreciate the opportunity to talk about our product, forensics, biometrics, infant safety, but also about life and circumstances, business, finance, science, the arts and more. In short, I love to engage, so don’t hesitate to strike up a conversation.

5. Tell us your favorite quote
“It is a far better thing to dare a mighty deed, than to rank with the cold timid souls who know neither victory or defeat.”
